What a terrible day! Everything I’ve tried to achieve has been frustrated by my creakingly old technology and by Apple’s not very environmentally friendly, inbuilt obsolescence policies.
I’m basically locked out of my recording files because I was foolish enough to open them on the machines in college, which are running Logic 10.7.9, whilst my machine is running Logic 10.4.2. I can’t update my version of Logic any more because the IMac is too old and even files that I have opened and done almost nothing to are now considered to have been created by Logic 10.7.9, which means my machine won’t open them anymore!
I’ve reverted to using Pro Tools on the ever reliable PC, but the files weren’t really prepped so it’s taking a bit of time…
I can’t think of anything else to try to regain access to these files, which I’m going to need to do as I need to be able to work on them at home. It’s looking like the long avoided, and much feared upgrade has finally become the only option. Fortunately I have recently had a little bit of paid work so may be in a position to afford some new hardware…I’m going to investigate the likely cost…wish me luck!
